Each of these two once-important personages has been formally replaced in a clear and democratic fashion, but neither of them is prepared to admit that she/he is dispensable. So, each of them has decided to carry on masquerading as if she/he were still in place. Isn't it funny how some people get so caught up in their own little worlds they don't notice, or choose to ignore reality? I had a similar experience today at one of my jobs, when a customer wandered aimlessly around, conveniently not noticing we had closed half an hour prior. *Sigh*
